DWM Plant Limited was formed in 2003 as an owner/operator plant hire company, by the current Managing Director, David McGregor. During 2003, two of the current directors found themselves working together on a civil engineering project based at Lostock in Lancashire.
During the initial years DWM, ran a modest fleet of operated plant for hire to the construction industry, which then lead on to providing skilled CSCS/CPCS accredited labour on a UK basis, for projects ranging from construction, petro-chemical, industrial, pipeline, retail and residential sectors.
The introduction of the CSCS/CPCS card scheme prompted DWM to take a look at the training and accreditation sector of the industry and eventually established a fully accredited plant and labour training facility, based at Knutsford Cheshire. Since the initial opening, the business has thrived in providing training and certification for construction industry employees.
During the following years DWM ventured into contract work, for a select list of clients, undertaking complicated and logistically challenging projects in city centre locations, including Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester and Southampton.
Initially, projects were undertaken providing labour and plant only, however as the industry went through change, main contractors required work to be carried out on a on a full labour, plant and material basis, which meant that DWM would need to consider the company structure. DWM Civil Engineering, comprising of, Civil Engineering, Sheet Piling and the Training Facility was now been recognised as a key player in the construction industry, trading as DWM Plant Limited.
It was decided to establish a management team, which involved recruiting site and office based personnel, generally from contacts and relationships developed on previous projects. The next stage was to introduce an estimating, procurement and commercial department, which operates from our Manchester office. The management team have a long standing relationship and collectively have a wealth of experience in the industry, from both the clients and contractors perspective.
The various types of projects undertaken, has contributed to the turnover exceeding £5m in 2014 and the company’s objectives are to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and satisfy the client’s requirements. DWM have been awarded the ‘Achilles Building Confidence’ accreditation, which has been held for a number of years and are proud that the in-house procedures, reflect this status.
The DWM client base consists of traditional builders, civil engineering companies, construction companies, independent factory operators, private developers, to name a few and many projects are carried out on a repeat business basis. Existing relationships are built on trust, integrity and transparency and the size of project and geographical location throughout the UK all receive the same professional approach from both site and office based staff.
Please feel free to contact any member of the DWM team, as listed on the company structure page in our brochure and website, to discuss how we can deliver your project.
